My car has 127000 miles and have always used regular 5w30 oil. Will it help protect my engine to switch to synthetic oil. I hear a tiny tapping under cover on top of my motor, what might that be coming from? Do I need to fix something? I'm 61, a widow, and I don't know anything about cars

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive Switching to synthetic most likely won't make a difference, as long as you have been using and continue to use quality oil. The tapping noise could be anything from normal fuel injector operation to internal engine wear. I would have a reputable mechanic take a look at it and see if it is something that needs to be fixed or is just something to pay attention to in the future.
