my camshaft pully has a piece broken off, will that throw my timing off or can i still.use it

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive If it is the camshaft pulley (inside the timing cover) you definitely want to get that fixed before you drive the vehicle. If it is the harmonic balancer (large pulley towards the bottom), it is drivable, but you do want to get that fixed as soon as possible as it can cause damage to the crankshaft and other components.
