When stepping on The gas ir won't shift unless I hit 4000 rpms or it won't even shift if I don't let the gas pedal go wat could be causing that ?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Maryann Croce, Owner at Croce’s Transmission Specialists Hi Jerry In regards to your Jeep Cherokee, if the car isn't shifting unless you reach 4000 rpms this could be a result of not having 2nd gear. which would mean the vehicle isn't shifting on time. Other probable causing might be sensors and or mechanical failure. If you can find a reputable shop they would be able to find the exact cause of failure with a professional diagnosis. Thanks
