The dome light in middle of my 2006 Kia Sorento does not work when car door is open. The switch is in the right place, and it will work when you turn it on manually, but it will not go off when door is shut. Is there a fuse that controls that or what?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Gail Dunn, Owner at Women's Automotive Connection Angela There is a diode that has caused a problem with this vehicle for several years. It will need replacing. You can have done at a reputable repair shop or take it to the dealer. There have been cases where the new diode goes out quickly, so make sure the part you get is warranted for the 12 mo/12,000 miles that is standard.

Gelina Aquilina, Service Advisor / Mechanic at There may be a fuse & you can check that according to your manual. It could also be a faulty door switch, that would need to be tested by a mechanic. Try calling around for quotes or free diagnosing.
