I was at a chevy dealership and this is the price break down to replace an alternator and serpintine belt
Serpintine Belt: $36.81
Total $686.81 plus tax (not sure where he got this number but it obviously dose not add up)
After looking online for typical alternator prices I didn't feel comfortable paying such a high fee for this part. Is that pretty common for a dealership.
This sounds a bit high, I recommend fishing for another quote at a local repair shop.

The quote they gave comes from a labor book they work from. You did not tell us what model car you drive, but I would call around to independent mechanical shops and get another opinion. I cannot give you a good price as I do not know the year, make and model of your vehicle, but I did a little research and the part price itself seems exorbitant.
