My 1999 Dodge Durango is making a loud squeaking noise near the fan in the front, when I start it and when driving. What could be the problem?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Ursula, I recommend you have your serpentine belt and belt tensioners inspected. You may have cracked worn belt that can cause a squealing when riding on your idler pulley.

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Greetings Ursula, A loud squeaking noise near the fan when you start your Durango COULD be a loose fan belt. I recommend you take it to your auto repair shop and check it out for you. It may just need to be tightened.

Gelina Aquilina, Service Advisor / Mechanic at Could be a belt noise...

Maryann Croce, Owner at Croce’s Transmission Specialists Hi Ursula, On your 1999 Durango: The noise you hear may be from a loose or worn belt. A local shop will be able to road test your vehicle and determine where the noise is coming from. Good Luck.
