Do I need to have road debris cleaned around the brake pads? I have about 30,000 miles on my car.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube At 30,000, have them checked for wear and have the pads replaced when they are 2mm or less.

Colleen McGee, Driving Instructor at Americas Driving School Hi Marj You should have your tires rotated about every 5,000 miles for equal wear. Every time they are rotated you should ask to have the brakes inspected because the brake pads do wear down and need replacing. It depends on your style of driving how often they need to be replaced. Rotors also need replacing but less often. They can inspect for debris at the same time. If you go to where you purchased your tires they may rotate and inspect them for free. Happy &safe driving! Colleen M
