How much fluid is in the transmission ? We have been having problems with the transmission for the last 3 weeks. The car will shift in all gears but when we go up a slight incline the car will shift down into 3rd gear but will not shift into high gear. What is happening?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Maryann Croce, Owner at Croce’s Transmission Specialists Hi Robert, There is approximately 10 quarts of fluid in your vehicle's transmission and torque converter. I would recommend having the concern you described diagnosed ASAP. Many minor transmission repairs can lead to a major repair if not addressed. Good Luck.

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube Check the level of your transmission fluid with the car running and on level ground. The stick will show you if full, if not add to full line. It is normal to downshift when going downhill. Every car requires a different aunt of fluid.

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Your transmission capacity is 7 qts with pan dropped and 9.5 qts total. As for drivability concern I am not certain with out a test drive.
