The Toyota dealer is saying my catalytic converter needs replaced...for the cost of $1600. I have 157,000 miles on my SUV and I'm wondering if it's worth the repair?
Also, they mentioned I could just have "one side" replaced...what the heck does that mean??
I suggest you fish for a second opinion if you have doubts! If you have a check engine light on, then it sets a code in the main computer. You can also bring your vehicle to your local auto parts store that offers to read those codes for free, and you have a second opinion. Replacing the Cat. Converter can be an expensive repair. If they are offering you to replace one side at a time so the initial cost is less, that is an option so you do not have to pay the full $1600 at one time.
