Most oil change shops will put a sticker on your windshield to get the next oil change at the next 3,000 miles or 3 months.
Many automotive experts now say it's not necessary to change your oil any sooner than 5,000- 7,0000 miles. This has to do with the difference in the make up of the oil since the 70's.
If you use the newer synthetic oils, they are said to be good for anywhere from 10,000-25,000 miles though they are about three times more expensive.
the best thing to do is read your owners manual or even go to the dealership and ask them what the recommendation is for your make and model vehicle.
One thing is for sure, if in doubt, your engine will be better off with a 3000 mile oil change than anything longer.

Your owner's manual will provide the service frequency for your vehicle's system, but Honda's recommends changing oil every 7,500 miles. Best of luck!
