I live in upstate new york / snow belt and I've always had 4 snow tires and 4 all season tires - all on rims (225/55/R17).
i currently need new tires and don't want to buy 8 tires since i don't know how long i'll be using the car
i'd like to buy 4 tires
What snow tire would you recommend that are good all year long and what all weather tire would you recommend that are good in the snow - and any other recommendations.
If you are looking for one great all around tire I would recommend the Nokian WRG3 which will perform like a snow tire but is made to be run all year as an all-weather tire. The tire comes from Finland and was developed from their snow tire line into an all-weather tire that stays pliable below the 38 degree threshold that affects all-season tires making them hard and slippery even when the roads are dry. The Nokian is a premium product with a smooth ride and exceptional grip. You can check them out and search for a dealer in your area at www.nokiantires.com .
