I got hit in the rear, it crushed my whole trunk in, driverside back door will not open, hard time opening front driverside door, the plastic on the back of the driverside popped off. Should an airbag been deployed?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Colleen McGee, Driving Instructor at Americas Driving School Hi Jessica A front airbag would only deploy in a head-on collision and side airbags deploy only when hit on that side, so no, an airbag would not be expected to deploy getting hit from the rear. I sure hope you fully recover (physically and financially) from the collision! Colleen M.

Jo An Holt, Automotive Journalist at Holt & Associates No, airbags are for front and side collisions. Your headrests took the impact.
