Every time I turn on my A/C there is a loud clicking noise. The noise does not occur when the A/C, however.
When it's idling, the clicking is constant and it increases the RPM's. When I'm driving, the clicking comes and goes in 3 or 4 second intervals and still increases the RPM's, making the car lurch forward at stop signs, etc.
The car has always had a mild grumbling sound when it's put in gear, but this is loud clicking sounds serious.
You may need to have your a/c clutch assembly inspected, this may be on the verge of needing replacement. Also, make sure that there is no obtrusion in the fan blades.

When you turn on your A/C you can usually hear the compressor running. The clicking you're hearing may be an indication that something is wrong with the compressor, or it's starting to go. I would have that checked out before it seizes up and breaks a belt.
