Twice a year I swap my winter tires on to my vehicle in December and March. Each time I do this I am charged to program the TPMS sensor. I originally purchased the winter tires with their own rims and TPMS sensor. Is it necessary to reprogram and pay for the swapping fee as well as the program of the sensor each time.(that is, 2x/year)?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Denise Koeth, Managing Editor at Tire Review Magazine Because the tire/wheel assemblies were removed and will likely change position, the TPMS sensors need to undergo a reset/relearn procedure.
