My daughter drives my 1999 Intrigue Olds with 99,000 miles - the garage mechanic says the rear struts are shot and have to be replaced - will cost 450 to 500 - is this reasonable? car has always been maintained and works good
I recommend calling around to your local repair facilities and gathering price quotes with an average repair cost for your area. Also, there can be a large difference in factory struts and after market struts as far as price goes. You typically can find struts on-line for around $90, the labor in removing and installation is where the steep price comes in.
