I had a question about car seat/booster seat safety. My son is 2 1/2 and big for his age. He weighs 32 lbs and he is over 3 feet tall. His car seat says up to 40 lbs is fine, but his shoulders are coming above the highest shoulder strap now and that is not safe. I know there are booster seats for kids as small as 30 lbs, but he seems so young for a booster. He fits in one properly and the shoulder strap is across his chest like it should be. I just want to know what will be safest for him. I also worry that at 2 1/2 he may try wiggling out of the seatbelt as it is not as confining as a 5 point harness. Thanks for any help.
What is best is the seat that fits him. The straps need to be safe. If he was 5 years old and the same size you would feel better about putting him in it correct?
I would check with your local law enforcement or fire department to see if they have a class or free booster/car seat fitting seminar to get a proper fit.
