I have purchased my car, now I would like to purchase an extended warranty. My credit union offers a PLATINUM Bumper to Bumper plan for $925.00 covering 7 years/100,000 miles with $0 deductible. Should I go to the Nissan dealer (who offered me a plan which was double that amount) or call around to different dealers for the best PRICE and best QUALITY warranty plan?

Jessie L Thatcher, F&I and Sales Specialist at Reynolds and Reynolds Company (Retired) The best extended service plan is usually that offered by the manufacturer. Remember the price is always negotiable, just like the price of the car. I would contact your finance person at the dealership where you purchased your vehicle, tell them the price and details of the plan offered by the CU and give them the opportunity to match the deal. In most cases they will be able to match or come close. The advantage of the manufacturers plan is you know it will be accepted at all Nissan dealers and is designed specifically for your vehicle. This is not always the case with "after-market" plans. Know exactly what is included...ie: road service, tires, power options on your vehicle, etc. and when and where it is accepted.
