My6 wheels are squealing when I apply the brakes. I took the car to a mechanic and he checked it and could find nothing wrong and said maybe dust got in them. This doesn't seem right although he has been my mechanic for years. Is this true about the dust?
If you hear this noise as you apply the brakes and it never goes away, it's possible that it's your pads. I always recommend that people make sure they get pads from the manufacturer. Usually this is the only way to eliminate noise.
As long as you are not hearing a metal scraping sound and your technician has checked them out to make sure they are safe, you may just have to put up with the noise.
Many times brakes will make noise when you first apply them a couple times, but that noise goes away. If you continue to hear this noise you may have to get new pads to stop it.
If you feel that it does not seem safe, then take it to another technician and get a second opinion.
