What are the best years for used Altimas? I need to buy one for 4-5K max... or is there another car brand that would be fairly reliable. I do not mind if this vehicle comes without automatic windows, seats etc. Thanks
Used Altimas are good cars for the money, out here in So Cal you would get a 1995-2000 with around 100Kmiles miles for 4-5K. Another similar car is Mazda Protoge or 626, Saturn SL1 (4 cylinders) are good too might even find a 2000 for that price. Nissan Sentra is smaller but also good.

With a budget of 4-5k you would be looking for 1997ish vehicles with approx. 115,000 miles.
Potential reliable sedans: Geo Prism, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Altima to name a few. To really find out if a vehicle is reliable you would need to take to a trained auto technician for a thorough used car inspection. Because each vehicle on the road has it's own history of repairs, maintenance and maybe some accidents, this is the only sure bet to find out if a vehicle would make a safe, reliable and a good investment.
