After I drive for a while the low coolant light comes on. There is enough coolant in the surge tank. If I turn the engine off and re-start it, the light will go off for a while and then come on again. The engine is the 3.0 DOHC V6 Duratec.

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Jack Musel, There should be a level indicator on the coolant overflow bottle that shows the correct level when the vehicle is cold. If the coolant is at the line, you probably have a faulty sensor. I'm pretty sure with this Ford that you cannot buy the sensor separately - you'll need to replace the bottle with the sensor in it.
