I have a problem that I would like for you to help me with. I have a 2001 Mit. Galant and when driving, particularly on the highway, I hear a rubbing noise that sounds like it is occurring under the gas pedal. Sometimes it feels like a vibration under the pedal. But the sound and vibration stop when I turn my wheel just a little to the right. I would appreciate anything you could offer.
Unfortunately noises and vibrations can travel and what you may feel under the gas pedal may actually be coming for some other place.
If you are finding that the noise/vibration goes away when you turn the wheels then I would have the suspension componants looked at.
It's really hard for me to diagnose the vehicle without being able to actually hear the noise. I would take a ride with a technician and let them hear the noise with you so that they know what to look for. It could have to do with the tires also, but have someone ride with you and then you can get an accurate diagnosis. Good luck.
