After a routine maintenance check, the mechanic said the front axle on my 04 car with 41,500 miles is starting to leak & needs a $350 fix soon. What does this mean?

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Gina, He is probably telling you that your CV boot has ripped, causing the grease to come out. Many times if you are not hearing a clicking noise when you're turning, you can just repack the joint and replace the boot. Most likely your technician is giving you a price to replace the whole axle. Find out if you can just replace the boot. It should be a much cheaper price. Lori Johnson
