Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Dianna, There may be a problem with the shift release. Usually cars have a way to over-ride this and do it manually. Check your owner's manual to see what to do in this case. Many vehicles have a little slot right next to the shifter column on top of the console. You can usually insert a key or small screwdriver. Push lightly while trying to move the shifter. This is a manual over-ride. There may be a small rubber grommet covering it, just remove it. You will still need to get this problem fixed, but at least you can drive it there. Hope this helps. Lori Johnson
