Marnie Kramer, Owner and Creator at EverythingCarz.com Dear Gretchen, Thank you for visiting AskPatty.com. VW has had quality issues throughout the years, but I have not seen anything specific regarding the engine. They have had some electronic issues on the new Passat. The car is still under warranty so if there are engine issues your warranty should handle those. You may consider selling prior to the warranty expiring or invest in an extended factory warranty. Sincerely, Marnie Kramer Everything Carz http://www.everythingcarz.com
