Our requirements for a car include: excellent gas mileage, excellent reliability, AWD, a good safety record, and good storage because we travel with a small sound system. Our present car, the 2000 Outback wagon, has served most of these purposes well (we would prefer better gas mileage) but we have owned Subarus for the last 20 years and are tired of them. Can you recommend other options that are not too expensive ? We usually buy used cars but would be open to considering a new one this time. Another option that we have considered is keeping the 2000 Outback as a second car and buying a smaller sedan which would have adequate trunk storage for most of our trips. (We are performers who travel a great deal for our work.) Because of our steep, long driveway and the snowy road conditions we often encounter, we really need the AWD.
