CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.. I have recently replaced my alternator, a new battery, and a rebuilt dashboard cluster. I had a diagnostic which read my engine to be operating well. The mechanic was not the best, as He mixed up the fuses under the dashboard. I get the annoying check engine light now, and It never came on before the repairs. The lights on the dash did not work when then gave me my car, I had to take it back to them, lights now work, along with the check engine light. Help please.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Donald, The check engine light comes on when there is a problem with one of the sensors in the vehicle. In order to find out what is wrong you are going to have to have a technician connect a scan tool to your vehicle to read the code. After you get the code, they'll be able to make a proper diagnosis. It may have nothing to do with the work you had done previously. Lori Johnson
