I am in need of a car. My brother-in-law is a car salesman and has a 1990 ford tempo 4 dr with only 43000 miles. It has passed its safety inspection, carfax check, good tires, cold air, and currently runs great. But I also know that at one time, before 1980, it was just as bad to have too few miles on a car as it is have to many.
What is your thought on this issue. I have my dad saying one thing and my brother-in-law saying another.

43k miles on a 17 year old vehicle? wow impressive
It may have been sitting for a while with little attention. There could be an issue of dry rotting belts, sediment in the fuel tank over time, and rusting in the engine block due to prolonged lack of lubrication. Also, make sure that you get a full inspection of the brake system, check for rust and condition of rotors and pads.
