Are you certain it needs a total rebuild? if so, subtract that amount of a rebuild from your selling price if your needed just to get rid of the vehicle. If it needs just a top end rebuild then subtract that repair from the selling price. It all lies in how much you need or want for the car, and how you decide to handle the repair. I am curious on how you came to the conclusion of a rebuild though, sometimes there are methods and procedures you can perform to medicate a situation of rebuild.

If your 98 Malibu had 140,000 miles on it and was in great condition (with an engine that worked) the high retail value would be approx. $3,500. Low retail would be $1,825.
