We are a family of 6 (2 adults; 4 kids 7 and under); I just totaled our gas guzzling Mazda MPV; do we have any fuel efficient car alternatives that will (legally) transport all of us?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Patty Streeter, at AskPatty.com Nisha, The Toyota Sienna and the Honda Odyssey are good options because they have the space you need but the Hyundai Entourage has a better safety rating and a slightly better highway MPG rating. Here is more info: Hyundai Entourage http://hyundaiusa.com/vehicle/entourage/interior/interior.aspx Price: $24,495 to $29,495 Mileage: 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway Family frills: No van has more standard safety features: Three-row side-curtain air bags, stability control, and antilock brakes are all standard. So are the Entourage*s three-zone climate-control system, power windows in the sliding doors, a flat-folding third row, and all the obligatory storage nooks. And how*s this for value: Even if you opt for power rear doors and tailgate, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and woodgrain accents, you*ll pay less than $30,000. Real-life road test: "The removable captain*s chairs made it easy to install our triplets* car seats and buckle the kids in. They loved having their own cup holders, and there*s plenty of storage space." * Brian Gruseke, associate publisher, Parents Safety ratings: NHTSA: 10 out of 10 frontal, 10 out of 10 side, 4 out of 5 rollover. IIHS: Good frontal, good side; also listed as a Top Safety Pick.
