I have a 1990 Buick Lesabre. The car only turns over by jumping the starter. With the ignition switch on, the car will not start. Can you help?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Matt, I*m sorry, but without having your car here at the shop I can*t help you. You need to take it to a trained professional and have them diagnose the problem. Best of Luck, Amy Mattinat

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Matt, Try putting the vehicle in Neutral and see if you can start it. If it starts, you may have a bad neutral safety switch. If it still doesn't start, then you may have a bad ignition switch or a problem with the wiring. You may need to take this to an ASE certified shop and have this problem diagnosed. Lori Johnson
