Hi Patty, It was really hot in my 1997 Corolla today so I turned on the air conditioning. The fan got louder but no strange noises and the air was not cold at all. It was only then that I remembered that at the end of last summer, the air didn*t seem as cold as before. How do you know whether I just need to get the Freon topped up or if there*s a bigger problem with the A/C? Thanks a million! J.

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear J, You will have to take your vehicle in for service to find out. They will have to connect gauges to see if it's just that the refrigerant is low or you need something else. You really shouldn't lose refrigerant, so you may have a leak. There are many things that could make the a/c innoperable, it's probably worth it to take your vehicle in for an air conditioning service to have it checked out. Lori Johnson
