Have a 2000 Toytota camry 4 cylinder. Has new short block. Yesterday started making lots of noise sounded like lifters but then would cut off when hot. Then stoped completely. What could be the problem?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear CK, This condition would be hard to diagnose without hearing the noise. You say it has a new block? If you had it done I would take it back and have them listen to it cold. If you got it this way, then find an ASE certified shop or dealer that can hear the noise and properly diagnose it.
