The EGR valve on a Saturn SL1 is buried in the back of the motor.
I highly recommend you take it to a trained Saturn specialist to have it changed.

It's located on the right rear of the cylinder head. You will probably have to remove a hose and possibly some screws. Here's a picture of what it looks like. http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/pict/80589538738080_0.jpg
You should only be replacing this item if a technician has told you that it's faulty, otherwise this may not solve your problems.

The EGR valve is located on the back of the cylinder head, tor replace remove
the 2 securing bolts and replace valve, also replace the EGR gasket at the ame
time to prevent leaks
