I have a 2005 chevy silverado 1500 pickup truck, 5.3 liter V-8 engine with engine code T. I am wondering if this engine has an iron or aluminum block and also if the heads are iron or aluminum? Thanks, Tommy

Patty Streeter, at AskPatty.com Tommy, The block and cylinder head should be aluminum, but to make sure you can do a simple test. Find a magnet and stick it to the block. If the magnet holds on, then the block is iron; if not, it is likely aluminum.
