1. Am considering purchasing a Mercury Mariner hybrid. I ski in the Sierra Nevada Mountains a lot in the winter. How do the hybrids hold up in very cold weather and snow conditions? 2. If the car is an AWD or 4WD, do I put chains on the front or the back wheels? 3. Does the extended cold weather have a negative affect the battery pack? Thank you. Mari Tustin

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Mari, I found some answers to your questions. 1. It shouldn't matter where you live. When manufacturers make vehicles, they make them knowing they could/will be in many different areas of the country or world and experience all of those temperatures. There is a great site with all kinds of hybrid type info for you to look at: http://www.hybridcars.com/ 2.http://www.tirerack.com/winter/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=128 (many more winter tire articles for you: http://www.tirerack.com/winter/tech/index.jsp) 3. http://hybridcars.about.com/od/hybridcarfaq/f/batterycold.htm I hope that helps you with your decision!
