Dear Tracey,

You can't actually add antifreeze to the radiator, you must add it through the overflow bottle. My first question would be why you want to do this for winter?

The antifreeze should always be a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. For VW you MUST buy the coolant from the manufacturer - I believe it's red.

Check your owners manual to see when scheduled maintenance is due for changing the fluid, it's usually about every 30,000 miles or so.

As long as you've been maintaining your vehicle there should be no need to do anything different just because it's winter. If you haven't had it changed, then you should take it to a service station to have this service done.
