When putting gas into my car's gas tank, the gas station's pump nozzle repeatedly cuts off before the tank is full. Car is a 2 year old Honda CRV

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Carol, Gas pumps shut off once the gas hits the knozzle. When the gas is coming out of the pump full speed as the tank gets full the "splash back" could shut off the pump. In all actuality, you should not fill your tank all the way to the top anyway. There must be some air in the tank for the fuel system to work properly.

Patty Streeter, at AskPatty.com Try pulling the nozzle out of the tank slightly so it is not all of the way in and see if this helps, If not You should take th e vehicle in for an inspection.
