I am considering a career in auto sales. I have been doing automotive marketing and promotional work for the past year earning about 60K. I am talking my local BMW, Acura and Toyota Dealerships and considering taking a sales position. They all seem very eager to hire me. Either because of my background or personality or because I am a woman or maybe just because I am a somewhat experienced normal person knocking at their door. I am not sure if I am getting the strait scoop on how much I can expect to make my first year in the business. They all quote me between 6 and 12 K a month. That seems high to me. Where can I get some straight talk on what to expect as a woman entering car sales? What are the realities of this career?
There are a lot of women who are very successful in the business - remember the honest ones and the ones that follow up are the most successful. NADA (National Automotibile Dealers Association) is a great source of information on these numbers.
